Minutes of Meeting 29th September 2016 - Here

Started riding with a few fellow Triathletes on a Sunday morning in 2003. This developed into a regular group of social Sunday rides and entering several 100 mile sportives. My cycling highlights have been riding the "Etape du Tour" in the French alps. I also like to go over to watch the Tour De France in the Alps and ride a few of the famous climbs.
Having been mainly a touring cyclist with a few long distance trips (eg 2x to Spain and self supported LEJOG  in 2011) ,  I discovered the joys of lightweight carbon bikes with the Shipston  Club in 2014. Since then I have improved my biking skills and fitness but still wish to get better with the support of a good bunch of cycling folk.
After a typical 1970s youth spent messing about on a 5 speed “racer", I returned to cycling around the millennium, buying a hardtail mountain bike (the big thing at the time) which I used for off-roading, commuting and family holidays. In 2011 I really caught the bug and decided that I needed a road bike too. I commissioned a steel frame from a friend and discovered the thrill of the open road, entering a few local sportives on my own. But it wasn’t until 2012 that I realised what was missing from my rides: the camaraderie and support to be found when cycling with a group. My first ride with Shipston Cycling was on 1 July 2012, and four years on, two tours of Mallorca and another steel bike later, I’m still enjoying the company and cake!
